Filling both Air and Medical Oxygen, our air fill station is open 6 days a week offering fills up to 300 BAR, 4350 PSI for both SCUBA and (most) SCBA cylinders.
To be filled your cylinder needs to have had a professional visual inspection within the last year and a hydrostatic re-test within the last 5 years. Many countries, such as France, require a hydrostatic re-test no old that 2 years so be sure to ask for this service before a fill if needed.
If your cylinder is in date, Air Fills are usually done within a few hours, depending on the line-up of cylinders ahead of yours.
Medical Oxygen fills require a 3 day window.
Conveniently located between the Airport Road and Simpson Bay Lagoon you can bring your cylinders by car or by boat to our dock at the back of the shop.
As part of our complete equipment service offering, The Scuba Shop offers cylinder inspections and hydrostatic testing in accordance with USA DOT, OSHA, PSI/PCI, and CGA standards. Hydrostatic testing is required every five years (two years in France), while annual visual inspections are strongly recommended to maintain safety and performance. Our in-house hydrotest facility, Caribbean Scuba Services - RIN N348, provides efficient service, reducing downtime so you can return to diving quickly. Regular testing is critical, as scuba cylinders contain enormous amounts of stored energy and must be carefully inspected for safety.
Why inspect your scuba cylinder?
"An average scuba tank, filled to 3000psi, contains approximately 1.3 million foot-pounds of kinetic energy potential. This is enough to lift a 100-ton locomotive off its tracks into the air. The explosive power of a scuba tank is equivalent to a hand grenade."
